Last day.
Felt elated. Felt relieved. Felt enthusiastic for all the fun ahead. It is the best feeling in the world, as a teacher, to know that you have the ENTIRE summer to spend as you wish. Family. Friends. Microbrews. Water. Fresh air. Great malls. Home.
Felt sad. Felt aggravated. Felt unsure about the prospect of such a great group leaving and the huge mix of newbies coming in. (That will pass)
Felt lucky. Felt honored. Felt appreciative knowing that we will keep in touch with some amazing friends who have touched our lives in countless ways.
We also let go of Virgie today. It was so much harder to say goodbye than I thought it was going to be. Lucky for her and for us, she has about ten newbies interested in taking her on next year, so she will be set. Virg has become a part of our little family, taking care of us every day. She has done so much for us and we value her incredibly. We will miss her, but will place her in good hands. Lots of tears for her today.
And lots of tears for departing friends. And more tears of joy for going home.
What a mix of emotions today. Sniff, sniffle, sniff.

Why did you let Virgie go? Aren't you going back??? Couldnt you have kept her for next year when you get back???
