Two-Week Anniversary

Today marks two weeks since Aiston arrived home. Those two weeks have flown by.

At his Wellness Check yesterday, Aiston had already gained 3 pounds since August 24. Much to Cory's dismay, his head had also grown. :) He has a good heart, good ears, good hips. He has good reflexes and all the right parts and everything points to a growing, healthy boy. He also got a Measles shot yesterday and did fine.

Aiston drinks a bottle of milk three times a day and is on solids for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a few snacks in between. He eats like a champ, except at breakfast-time when all he really wants is his bottle. He is sleeping through the night, from about 6:30pm-6:00am. I think we lucked out there. He also takes two naps each day, usually an hour to two hours long. When he's awake, he is quite happy to play on his own or with his Mommy or Daddy. He is all about putting things into his mouth right now and he loves to bang objects together. He also scoots along the floor like a seal and is very fast when he wants to be. His doctor thinks he could walk before he crawls as he is starting to pull himself up and stand with a little support. He smiles and babbles, he gives us eye contact and gets upset or worried if we "go away." He enjoys swimming and bath time, but hates having his hair washed. Instead we use a washcloth to wipe out the suds in his hair. He is gaining more interest in the cats, who seem to have accepted him wholeheartedly, and don't even go into his room or his crib anymore. Buaya is the exception - she has been very motherly since Aiston's arrival. Little Miss Independent loves to sit and observe all that Aiston does during the day, checking up on him and making sure he is okay. It is very sweet. Aiston loves to move and is happy on walks or in cars, but is still getting used to his carseat.

We love Ace's big, beautiful, dark brown eyes and toothy wide smile. We love the noises he makes and are learning to differentiate between all of his unique sounds. We adore his curls (although most Filipinos think he's a girl upon first glance, to which I laugh because he absolutely does NOT look like a girl). We appreciate his curiosity and look forward to his continued development.

We hate to get ahead of ourselves, but Aiston is settling in remarkably well. His transition has been better than we could have hoped for and he seems to be making solid attachments to both myself and to Cory. He is also getting used to Ate Dels and is a trooper when being introduced to our friends, one by one. So long as we are there, he seems comfortable to meet a new face or two. We are very grateful to his previous caregivers and for the resiliency of this little guy. Oh, and we kind of love him a lot, too. :)
