Tagatay

After a joyously hectic Saturday, we woke up leisurely on Sunday morning, took a walk, made breakfast and then packed up the car while Aiston napped. Around noon, we set off towards Tagatay, a town on the rim of a massive caldera and a 2-hour drive south of Manila. It's a great escape from the hustle and bustle of the big city - the air is fresher and depending on where you stay, the streets are quieter.

Cory took his last two paternity days and we decided to try a new place called Crosswinds, since there was a promotion on. The hilariously-out-of-place Swiss chalet-inspired "condotel" is set in the hills behind the rim. Neat, two-bedroom apartments with kitchens and ample living spaces have balconies and access to a refreshing little pool, which was great for Aiston because there were many shallow places for him to sit and splash around. We brought meals to cook up and the stroller and carrier for walks up and down the steep terrain.







Aiston turned 10 months on Sunday and we enjoyed the next three days taking walks in the clean air, swimming at the pool, exploring the playground, lounging in bed and reading while Aiston napped, knocking back a few beers as we watched the sun set and taking in some new sights. We also had coffee and lunch on the rim, with a beautiful view of the lake and the volcano within the volcano, before we headed back to Manila.
