Heaven

Heaven for us is being home, made all the sweeter this year because we got to return as a family of three. Our beautiful boy got to meet his family and to experience the Pacific Northwest at its finest.
It was a summer filled with happy memories. We stayed in Seattle with Lola and then rooted ourselves in the Shoug, where people were kind enough to come and stay. We should have installed a revolving door at our home this summer - that's how many visitors we were lucky to welcome. This summer was one of those tent-camping, grass-stomping, rock-throwing, kayak-rowing, beer-sipping, sun-loving, river-running, beach-combing, game-playing, home-decorating, yard-working, family-reconnecting, soul-mending type of summers that you just can't get enough of.
It snowed on our 10th Anniversary. It poured rain when Tita Kristy came from Canada to visit. And it was hot as heck on the river. At night, we were up with Aiston more than we ever have been since bringing him home. Jet-lag stunk. We both got sick on our anniversary. And Aiston demanded a lot of time and attention when we couldn't rely on Ate to take over for a while. We painted. We wood-chipped. And wood-chipped and wood-chipped. We found local, organic eggs and ate turkey for the first time in years from a local farm. We spent tons of money on beer and even more on food with which we planned, prepared and cooked. There were many shenanigans. We never had more than a couple of days to ourselves as a family. And it was glorious. All of it. Every. single. second. of. it.
