Storm-Watching
The really cool thing about living on the 39th floor of a major complex is the view. It is truly awesome to watch the storms roll into the city. Dark clouds will suddenly tumble in from one direction and then sweep over the buildings and engulf them in a dull gray haze. We'll be sitting at the table eating dinner or working on the computer and we'll hear a pop! A flash of light will brighten up the sky, illuminating the skyscrapers nearby. Then, the rain will begin to fall. A few minutes later, the drops will pound harder and faster on the windows that stretch around our living room. We'll grab a glass of wine and turn off the lights, sit on the couch and wait. Out of the corner of our eyes, we'll see a jolt of lightning come splitting out of the sky, followed by the boom of thunder. We'll be chatting and then a huge crack will come zigzagging towards us, upward and over the building. We'll stare, amazed, and listen to the thunder bombing the city. We could do this for up to an hour. It is just so cool. The picture doesn't do the storms that roll across the skyline justice, and trust me, I tried to capture a flash of lightning, but at least you can imagine . . .
